Keep On Keeping On to Start a Successful Home Business

Even if you fail to start a successful home business at this time (or on the first attempt) it is still better than not having tried. ‘Nothing ventured, nothing gained’. At least you tried (and you can always try again – maybe now or maybe later) or sometimes said ‘try and try again.’

Sometimes that is what it takes to see ‘the big picture’ – You might get it going on at the front end at the inception of your business – the presentation or ‘first impression’; but then for whatever reason it doesn’t hold true = You don’t find how to gain or generate substance (and/or build momentum). So you didn’t make it on that attempt.”

It may be hard if you can’t get your bearings where you sit right now to perceive how to go forward, and you may feel slightly like dirt because you didn’t get anywhere, all your ‘friends’ warned you, you are eating a lot of crow these days and quite frankly are glad to be done with the chaos of trying to start an online business.

Believe it — there is such a thing as ‘the times’ – there can be so many reasons why at this juncture it just didn’t work out. We can’t usually do anything about that and as they say what we can’t change we must accept’. (and then move on).

We also must learn to go around obstacles that just can’t be resolved – Maybe the way is not clear today – but if you don’t give up your dream or your intention it will come to you some day. You will try again.

No telling what all will motivate you to not give up on your ideas – Maybe normal things like terminally broke, living paycheck to paycheck, just scraping by and sick of it; sick of your job; don’t make enough money to enjoy life. Of course we all know money can’t buy happiness but it sure can be fun to have enough or even a little more than enough!

Yes folks this is where ‘hindsight’ is not as useless as we might feel. ‘If we had known what we know now’! We can analyze what went down in our various attempts to have a successful business and really try to understand what went wrong – and what went right – and use that information to keep building your idea.

Building a business is really an art. Some of the ‘paints’ are our skills, our interests, and our character (strength); but the ‘big picture’ is really the market (consumers). Will they receive and embrace us? We will never know unless we try.

Components for Building a Business

Some might say that the ‘idea’ for the business would be the most important thing. They may include not only an idea for a product or service but also the entire concept – the look and feel (environment) etc. The way you present everything – your website, your advertising and marketing design is important in attracting people. Your customer service attitude is what will keep them.

Certainly it would be important to know if there is a market for what you intend to promote. There is so much logic to the theory that we should not choose the product or service and try to find somebody that wants it, but to find out what the market wants and then give it to them. Think about that for a minute. It is a whole different ballgame when they come to you versus you chasing them down and trying to convince them.

Equally as important is how badly you want to have a business – your motivation. It probably should be more than ‘need money’. Ideally you would love doing whatever you have to do to get the money. You would have a passion – (besides the money). Whether that passion is related to the product or service that you are ‘on fire’ about and just can’t wait to share, or to the act of helping others by showing them a way to get what they want or need, passion can really help you get through all that you will need to do to build your business.

In many cases the motivation has to do with dissatisfaction with our lot – we are not making the kind of money we want and/or need, we are not doing something that we like to do, or there are other negative political factors associated with our workplace environment; not to mention if we are about to lose our job, love it or hate it, or have already been terminated. Any of these things can help to motivate you to start to build your own successful business.

Whatever it is, just like anything else ‘what goes around comes around’ – If you put a lot of effort and time into developing your business, you are likely to stick with it and to eventually have a successful business. If you are just half-way impressed with everything and more or less begrudgingly work at it, you may give up (fail) before giving it a fair chance.

You can control this – it is not a situation where you can’t help whether you like it or not. When you are in business for yourself you are in control of everything pretty much. At first you may not have the money or expertise to do everything exactly as you want, so you may have to make some sacrifices for a while. Psychologically having a plan for the future that looks the way you want it to will help you get through the hard times while you are building.
