Challenge Yourself to Increase Your Income Right Now

If we have a job then our income is limited to our standing agreement with our employer. If we are fortunate this is reviewed each year in our performance evaluation and if the company is doing ok you may receive a merit increase and/or a cost of living increase. Sometimes though you don’t receive any increases for a few years or more, again depending on the health of the company.

Health of the company can infer a few things other than how well they are doing financially speaking. It can also refer to mental or psychological health. This is dictated largely by the corporation but more directly by management. An antagonistic, hostile manager or supervisor who is incapable of motivating employees can really make people sick. After all we spend most of our waking life working and if we don’t feel appreciated or make enough money to enjoy life, it can really take a toll.

Sometimes management feels you are being paid well enough and they may purposely ignore what you do that is ‘beyond expectations’ because they don’t want to give you more money. In an atmosphere such as this there is little to motivate people to push themselves to excel at what they do. There can be a consequent environment of people merely taking up a chair for 8-hours, doing just enough to get by. Is it any wonder?

With all that said, it is also true that in this day and age we are fortunate even to have a lousy job. However there is no reason to be trapped by what we can’t control (our employer, etc). By taking control of our own life and giving it some extra energy to start our own business at home, we can overcome any negativity we must endure.

It will be a challenge to add one more priority to our lives, and to fit it in with the day job, the commute, the family duties, etc., but if we want to get out of the maze and ‘exceed expectations’ then we will need to make some sacrifices of our ‘leisure time’. We can be productive from home in a more relaxed and much freer and friendlier environment.

If we are willing to do the time now, we can get it running and after we have developed our plans and ideas and implemented them, a good deal of the business can run on ‘autopilot’. Then we can start going back to having more time to relax and have fun – and we may have the extra money to do it. Take control now and push yourself forward until you can again feel good about what you accomplish.

The Easiest & Fastest Ways to Start an Online Business at Home

Without a doubt one of the easiest ways to start making money online is to join one or more affiliate programs. You need only to ‘brainstorm’ a couple different ways to start a business and include some of the more critical details in getting started, to realize which are easiest.

There are affiliate programs where you can promote tangible products such as in an ‘independent distributor’ situation where you will drop-ship to your customers; you can promote digital products such as would be delivered online by download – software, different technical services, etc.; and you can promote the affiliate program itself to earn commissions for referrals.

You might want to consider a combination of these as some are easier to sell (in addition to easier to implement). This may include a combination of one-time-sales and residual income which recurs monthly. It may be easier to make a one-time-sale as there isn’t as much commitment involved as in residual income.

However residual income could be considered ‘working smarter’ since you make the sale once and continue to earn money from that initial sale. (this doesn’t mean rest on your laurels because you always want to be pursuing new business as people do quit, etc.). No matter which business model(s) you choose, it will require your engagement and making a consistent effort over time to really build a substantial business.

You may want to start with just one and build that up and make sure it is running fine before you start to branch out to another business. It depends on you and whether or not you consider yourself a multi-tasker – not to mention how much time you may have to devote to your business over time. Some people can do more than one thing at a time and do them all well, while others really need to focus on one thing at time.

The bottom line is that affiliate programs will usually give you some very important resources to work with just for joining the program. These include a sales page which is a type of website that has your affiliate link imbedded. When anyone responds to the ad, the sale will be directed to your credit and the company will pay you a commission. So with this you are cutting out possibly years of learning how to create a web page, or possibly some serious money to have one created for you.

Another really critical element that you couldn’t easily do yourself as a beginner, is to provide customer service including to process the sales transaction itself – the payment gateway, the communications, the problem resolution if any, etc. So never begrudge an affiliate program the membership fees they may charge as they have really earned it by providing you with real value to help you to easily have a business.

Hate Your Job? Create a Business at Home You Can Love!

Obviously it is more fun doing things we like. Too often in life we are forced to tolerate things because we have no choice and this is particularly so with a job. Most companies know specifically what tasks they need done and define a job by those tasks. Sometimes we are fortunate enough to have a job that at least offers a variety of things to do. That makes it possible to like some aspects of it more than others, which helps a little to get through it.

So if you are planning on starting your own business this is your chance to design something that you enjoy doing. You might start by making a few lists that include your interests and hobbies and another one that has all your job experience and skills. Then you can drill down on each point and for example start to analyze ways you could make money from your interests and hobbies and/or with which you could use the skills you have.

Some examples might be if you really love to play golf. The first thing you might do is start a blog and start writing about golf – techniques, trivia, news stories, reviews, etc. You might include a calendar or schedule of tournaments in various geographical areas with information to help people travel to those destinations. Think in terms of attracting other golf enthusiasts to your ‘conversation’.

Then to monetize the blog you might add some ads for golf equipment – you could find outlets that have golf clubs, golf shoes, golf clothes, and other golf equipment and make arrangements to either become an affiliate or a distributor so that you would have a way to drop-ship. You could take the orders and add a ‘handling’ fee to process the transaction end-to-end.

Another example would be if you love crafts which can include candle making, soap making, candy making, baking, ceramics, jewelry, etc. You could make gift baskets that include a little of each or stay with one theme. These baskets are really festive and a lot of fun to receive on the holidays. This model is a little more intensive in that you have to consider the cost of all your materials to create your gifts, as well as shipping materials. You could then just run your ads on an auction site or online store front so that they could handle your order process, payment gateway, etc.

If you are more on the ‘office’ side of business then you could offer to do services with your computer such as running SEO campaigns for Internet businesses, offering to tutor people online in computer or Internet basics, ghostwriting or copywriting, tax preparation/accounting, or customer service. Again look at your list of skills and try to translate them into something you can do as a home business.
