You Can Save So Much Money By Working From Home

Whether you can pull it off to work from home, either full or part-time, you will see how you can really start to get ahead by saving expenses. You will see in some situations it just doesn’t pay to work out of the home.

For two huge examples, gasoline and other commute expenses for travel to and from your job that you are not reimbursed by your employer; and child care – you can save hundreds of dollars by staying home with your kids. This is not even to mention the value to your child’s well being by having at least one parent who is there for them all the time.

Another way that you can see saving money by staying home to do your work is if you are locked into a salary or hourly wage; on the one hand you realize it is not possible to get an increase in pay until the next annual performance evaluation, and on the other the ‘cost of living’ and ‘merit’ increases are piddly at best. In some cases they are not a given so you may or may not be able to depend on it.

If you start a business of your own from home you are the one that determines how much you make or not and you can directly affect the bottom line by accelerating your actions to generate more income. So if you are like most average people you live pretty much paycheck-to-paycheck and you usually don’t have anything left over to save by the time you pay all your bills. What you need then is a second income from working from home to increase the amount you are able to save.

Saving is so important on many different levels – saving for a specific reason or not, it really makes sense to have something to ‘fall back on’ if nothing else. We never know when there will be something unexpected that requires extra money which is on top of our normal expenses without a corresponding increase in income!

…Or just to be able to reward yourself from time to time by splurging on a vacation or going first-class. Even having ‘mad money’ which is so much fun to spend, is a good reason to have a second income. There has to be more to life than just mere drudgery day in and day out. We should be enjoying life and the truth is many of us can’t afford to do so. That is a real tragedy.

Many people who are nearing retirement age now saw so many twists and turns with their investments and pensions over the past few decades that they really wish they had used their younger, more productive years to save money for their retirement. So many things that people depended on to be there are not there at least to the degree that they were assumed to be. People are not able to retire completely until they are really way beyond ‘normal’ retirement age. Actually for them it is just perfect to work from home to earn money to supplement their retirement income.

Looking for a Way Out? Working from Home Part-time May be an Answer

It may be fun to work hard and we are very lucky if we actually enjoy working. However if you are under constant stress of trying to ‘make ends meet’ this adds a whole unpleasant element to each day. If you are living on a salary that barely keeps up with the ever-rising cost of living, it may just be necessary to have a second or third income. A part-time business you can work from home may be necessary to overcome the deficit.

When the economy slows down, it means there are less sales for business. To make up for that, they may freeze wages, and even worse, ‘downsize’ the workforce. Consequently, although the unemployment problem seems to be getting a little better, still many are looking for jobs that are not being created.

In spite of the fact that people do need some time to relax and have a life apart from their job, if it is necessary to earn more money, that ‘free’ time can be used productively to develop another source of income to supplement your regular salary, or to bridge the gap from one job to another.

Having a second job is a little more tedious than starting a home business. The idea of running from job to job and the additional stress may become overwhelming. Much easier to come home after you leave your job, have a nice dinner with your family and then just turn on your computer instead of the TV.

In many online business models, affiliate marketing or distributorships, for example, the companies provide customer service and order fulfillment for you, so there is no pressure on you to be available during the hours you are working at your day job, with your family, or asleep. Once you have implemented your participation, your only real job is to market and advertise your work from home business product or service.

Affiliate programs also supply everything you need to promote your business. They give you a web page which has an address that includes your affiliate ID number so that you get credit for and can earn commissions from any sales you are able to generate. They also have many other tools that their members are welcome to use such as training, content and graphics. This saves you a huge amount of time and expense to get rolling. You can usually earn money by selling their products and services, as well as for referring others.

With online distributorship programs, although these may involve tangible products, you shouldn’t need any inventory as you can ‘drop-ship’ to your customers directly from the company’s warehouses. So your only job is to generate the sale and make the connection.

Build a Strong Foundation With Residual Income

What is ‘residual’ income? It is income where you make a sale one time and it generates income on a regular basis going forward. Residual income can even be earned on multiple levels. For example if you refer someone to an affiliate program, you make a commission for a percentage of the initial sale. In the future when your customer pays their membership fees for the program each month, you earn a percentage of that as a commission. With ‘multi-level-marketing’ you may also receive a percentage of the commissions when your customer makes sales of their own.

So the idea is that you have income that continues to generate as a result of that initial sale for as long as your customer remains active in the program. This would also be true if you were directly selling a service, for as long as your customer continues to use the service.

Usually if you are selling products directly, these are considered ‘one-time-only’ commissions, as you earn money only one time when the purchase is made. Nothing wrong with this but it does take much more work to build and sustain your momentum to keep those one-time sales coming in on a regular basis.

It is a good idea to have a combination of sales types and the money all adds up to represent a substantial income. However it does seem like a brighter idea to have residual income – just in the way it is more efficient to plant ‘perennials’ that bloom every season after they are planted once, than it is to have ‘annuals’ that you must replant every year.

It’s fun that the plant analogy really does work so well when discussing residual income too – because for example when you have a perennial plant it will not only bloom each year in the same place, but the wind will carry the seeds and the plant may pop up in many different places.

With residual income it is the same in that you have contacted the initial customer who then contacts others, who contact others and before you know it you have built an ‘organization’ just from that one initial action that you took by ‘planting the seed’.

Internet marketing and in fact marketing in any industry is about generating lots of volume with your efforts. This is because the majority of people will not be interested and will not respond. It is a bit like the proverbial ‘needle in a haystack’ in that you must weed through all the people who won’t be interested to find the few that will.

Actually there are many that will respond over time – but just as a percentage of the human population on earth, only a few (million) are interested in starting a home business or working from home. Remember as well that it is believed that people do not usually respond to an ad the first time they see it. It is approximately the 5th or 6th time. This is another reason to always keep the volume of your advertising turned up to the max. This week someone may not be interested – but things are always changing and maybe next week they will change their mind and respond to your ad!
