Starting a New Home Business – Do You Already Know It All?

It is said that the only person who can’t learn anything is the one who thinks he already knows everything. This is logical since knowing it all, they believe that they do not need to pay attention. Unsure where in our ego this shut-down process happens but it seems likely we may have an ‘authoritarian’ complex if and when it does.

It is likely our disdain for authority comes from having been ‘forced’ to obey and to believe what we are taught whether or not we agreed. It is a natural reaction for people to resist force. In the extreme however, part of the authoritarian psychology is that we are not to question authority. We must just accept what we are told and believe as they dictate. If not there are often consequences to various degrees.

Therefore it is ideal if parents, while asserting what the child needs to learn, are not too domineering but more like ‘suggests’ that the child ‘cooperate’. Then we will have a more balanced person who realizes they have the right to either accept or not, whatever they are told. Then they can learn to make their own decisions when they are older.

In the case of Internet marketing, there seems to be people who distrust those that have had success. On the one hand they may ‘join up’ with the marketer or ‘guru’ (expert) to get whatever they can from them, but at the same time ignore his recommendations and be more willing to follow their peers as far as techniques and strategies; (it seems the other reason for this is jealousy – just to make sure that person doesn’t make another dime especially from them).

They say that if you are learning a new thing or being in a new environment that you should associate with those that are more successful than you are so that you can learn from them first-hand; not just their techniques but their mindset, theories, etc. This makes sense. Nobody is forcing us but we can really make a note of the things about the person’s personality that may indicate why they are a success amid so many that fail (because they quit).

… But for those who distrust authority, it’s as if they assume the person who has had success has had the breaks they never had – maybe higher education or someone has financed them to get started, or that they somehow are already rich and can afford to spend money on a business, for a few examples. Actually that may be easier for them to believe because that gives them an excuse to fail if they don’t want to follow the directions.

In reality people who succeed are more than likely just people who have paid attention. They are not afraid to work hard and they know how to ‘walk in faith’ – they just have that little thing that causes them, no matter what the adversity, to believe that they CAN DO whatever it is – and this seems to give them the impetus to ‘Just Do It’.

There is nothing to be ashamed of to admit you have never had your own business, you are new to the Internet and you will need some time to get acclimated (do not have a clue what to do). Then if you will find some good training in Internet marketing and you will humbly if not follow, at least pay attention to the directions and instructions and at least give it a try, you never know if you will be the next ‘star’.

What is meant by ‘give it a try’ – it doesn’t mean read it and maybe do something one time and then complain because it ‘didn’t work’. If you are realistic you will see that nothing is going to work instantly or by magic. You have to learn and then try to do it correctly, the best you can. Then you need to keep doing it consistently over time and perfecting it – or learn something else if it truly doesn’t have the results you hoped for.

We also need to realize that only a small percentage of traffic will respond. This doesn’t mean we are not doing it right, or that our teacher led us astray; it means the traffic is either not interested or just not ready to take action. We have to accept that fact and keep trying to find the right traffic. Then, we have to give whatever technique it is time to produce results – it will not happen instantly (in a week or maybe even months). Give it time!

Starting a Business Online – Help Needed!

There is nothing more true than the old belief that our society wants instant gratification with everything. The faster things move, the more we want it to move faster. Give us ‘quick’ or ‘instant’, and the fun wears off almost instantly and we want ‘ready-made’.

Some ‘pre-fab’ things actually work well and there is a lot to be said for saving time and money by buying something that is all put together. It really depends on the context. When it comes to a business, there are some things that are much too complicated for most of us and that is a good reason to find something that can give us a leg up, such as the proverbial ‘business in a box’.

If we were presented with the prospect of learning a programming language, well we just wouldn’t or couldn’t. It would prevent us from having a website or starting a business online – at least for a few years while we learned how to and then started in to actually build it. It is not that people are necessarily too lazy or ignorant at all – it is just that some people can relate to technical things and some don’t. Nothing wrong with that. It is just that we should realistically know our own limitations as well as we know our likes and dislikes and prepare accordingly.’

In this case there are multiple resources we could utilize to accomplish what we need. We could pay a web design company to create a site and some pages for us which can be expensive. Don’t be fooled by the ‘really free’ ads on TV that are laughable because they make that point “really free not funny free”. Yes, really free, but don’t forget to mention that they charge a maintenance fee each month (which if you can afford it may be the perfect thing for you – average $100 a month) and this includes some basic marketing and content. (they actually do admit this at the end to give them credit).

Or we can go the truly free way and build a website on a blogging platform. All we need there is hosting and a domain name which really are very inexpensive – even for reliable companies (which is a critical point). The bloggers usually have a number of free themes you can choose from and then you start to tinker with it to customize it for your purposes. If you can’t even afford that, there is a blogging platform where you don’t even need a domain or host – but the drawback is that the design options are limited, and you will have a sub-domain which is not as professional as a top-level domain, and screams ‘I am a flat-broke newbie’. To each his own.

Another basic thing that we need to start a business online is an autoresponder with a campaign – a series of messages that go out automatically to a list of prospects, for one example. While we certainly don’t need to build a machine and figure out how to get it online and use it, we do need to either have some talent for writing or be able to afford to pay someone else to provide the content for the messages. This may not sound like much but it can cost hundreds of dollars to have well-written, professional messages that are well-written, clear and compelling.

So now we have a few of the main necessities of an online business, a website or web page(s) for branding and advertising, and a way to efficiently and safely communicate with our prospects and customers. Add some real effort and persistence along with some time, and you really could have the start of a business that someday could pay you handsomely.

Of course it goes without saying we need to have something to sell – a product or service. This can be either really easy or really difficult. Really easy if you can see the ‘instant gratification’ of being an ‘affiliate’ or ‘independent distributor’ (sell somebody else’s stuff) – you can be doing it today. Develop and create something on your own we are back to years unless you already have that piece put together or have big bucks.

So bottom line is the really good ‘business in a box’ would have all of those elements all put together for you at a price you can afford, be fully customizable so that you can make it your own, unique business, and include training so that you can learn what you need to do to promote a business online successfully.

Hello world!

Hi, it’s Lowell and this is my new website. Stay tuned… I’ll have great things to share!

For starters, here’s an article I think you’ll enjoy…

It’s called: “Make the Leap to Home Business Success

If you are going to build a successful home business, you need 3 “intangibles.” These are things that must come from WITHIN you.

===> Intangible 1 <===

First, you must have a strong WHY.

Why must you make a home business work? What’s driving you? What is it that you CAN’T have in your life anymore and/or what is it that you absolutely MUST HAVE now?

For me, I couldn’t stand working 12+ hours a day anymore and missing the experience of my children growing up. I also absolutely HAD TO HAVE the freedom of being able to control my life and finances through a little box that I could carry with me anywhere in the world and not be tied to anyone’s time pressures or demands but my own. That was my carrot and my stick. I felt a great pain deep in my gut of missing out on my children’s lives and the incredible freedom that succeeding in this business would provide for me. I found my why. You MUST find yours.

===> Intangible 2 <===

You must BELIEVE that it is possible.

If you don’t believe that it’s POSSIBLE for you to succeed in a home business or make your living on the Internet, you won’t. It’s that simple.

For me, figuring out that it was possible was just a matter of realizing that many other people were ALREADY making great money with a home business online. If they could do it, I could too. It would just be a matter of figuring out what those people were doing and then adapting it to my situation.

There is no shortage of undeniable PROOF that people (millions of them) are making money online in many different ways. Just get online and do some research and you’ll find countless testimonials and stories of REAL PEOPLE making real money on the Internet. Or head to your local bookstore and you’ll find the same documented evidence of this fact. Truth is, it’s getting easier and easier to start and succeed in a home based business. This is primarily because of the Internet and affiliate marketing.

I’ve always said that “affiliate marketing” is the job of the future. In the “old” days, you had to go to a potential employer, apply for the position and hope for the best. Now you can simply go to any company you want, fill out their affiliate application and start work immediately. Affiliates are the new working class. Believe me, making money with affiliate programs or making your living on the Internet is WAY MORE than possible. It is pretty much (or will be soon enough) unavoidable now. Affiliate marketing is the “job” of the future that’s here TODAY.

===> Intangible 3 <===

You must be willing to MAKE THE LEAP.

Ready, FIRE, then aim… This is the operating philosophy you MUST adopt to succeed with an Internet home business.

That’s backwards for most people who like to aim before they fire. The fact is the Internet is a moving target… The only thing constant about it is change. You need to stop analyzing the game and simply jump into it. You can’t learn from the outside… You have to be IN THE RING to truly understand it.

The lesson here is that you will never really be READY to start a home based business. You simply have to start one. This is what I call “Making the Leap.”

The good news is that the cost of failure on the Internet is very small. In the “brick and mortar” world you need to evaluate things very carefully before you decide to open up a business. It’s almost always necessary to invest thousands of dollars to get an offline business off the ground. However, on the Internet you can often start a successful business for less than $100. In fact, Plug-In Profit Site is a really good example of this.

You simply need get IN THE GAME… Each moment that you stay “out there,” you’re wasting valuable time that you could be learning and skills necessary to become a successful affiliate marketer. In fact, if you’re not in the game yet, you’re ALREADY behind the times. Come on… You can do it! Make the leap to becoming a successful home based business owner today!

About the author: Stone Evans was a washed up restaurant worker desperately searching for a way to save his family when he discovered the internet and affiliate marketing… 24 months later he finally cracked the code and started earning over $10,000.00 per month… Now the same system that saved him is available to you here!
